As our global community is learning its “new normal,” LiFT had to pivot our fundraising efforts to the digital world.
On September 5th, we hosted 2020 LiFT Your Spirits at a Digital Derby, our first online fundraising gala and WOW, we were amazed! We’re so heartened by just how much donors went above and beyond to support our school’s critical work, even in this time of crisis.
This event raised over $180,000, directly impacting the students of LiFT, especially those at LiFT University Transition Program. Internships are critical for LiFT U students as they offer valuable and life changing career experiences. Many businesses, including those of our local Community Partners, have suffered greatly as a result of the pandemic resulting in employees being furloughed and businesses closing their doors. Thanks to the generosity of our LiFT supporters, the monies raised at 2020 LYS are being used, in part, to support the internship experience for our LiFT U learners by investing into our microbusinesses, enhancing our community presence and outreach strategies, and pivoting our internship opportunities to accommodate the required changes needed during COVID-19.
