Hurricane Milton

Recently, LiFT’s new campus, a beacon of hope and learning, was struck by the devastating forces of Hurricane Milton. The storm caused over $2 million in damage, leaving a profound impact on our brand new campus and our community. Nearly 70% of our building was impacted, with parts of our school suffering extensive destruction. The roof was ripped off, leaving classrooms, hallways, and our beloved sensory room exposed to the storms. Water poured in, filling spaces where our students typically find joy, comfort, and connection. Even our gym, a place of not only physical growth, but where our students eat lunch and expand friendships, now stands damaged.

LiFT is more than a school; it’s a sanctuary for children and adults with neurodiversity, who thrive on specialized support. It’s a space designed to provide safety, belonging, and tailored educational experiences. We recently expanded our campus to offer even more to our students and families, only to see so much of it damaged in an instant.

As we begin to pick up the pieces, we’re reaching out to our community—people who believe in LiFT’s mission and the bright future of our students. We cannot do this alone. Rebuilding these spaces will require significant funds and collective effort. Every donation brings us closer to restoring our campus that many learners rely on for their growth, inclusivity, education and overall well-being.

Please consider making a donation, no matter the size. Your support will help us restore the roof, repair classrooms, rebuild the gym, and rehabilitate our sensory room.

Together, we can bring hope back to LiFT!

Volunteer:

If you / your company are able to lend a hand, we need volunteers for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Cleanup and debris removal to make our campus safe again.
  • Repairs and painting to restore classrooms and common areas.
  • Organizing and setting up once spaces are ready for use.

No special skills are required—just a willingness to help and a commitment to our cause. Whether you can give a few hours, a few days, or more, every bit of your time will make a big difference in bringing our school back to life.
